What would you do if your computer crashed right now, as
you read this
message? Would you be unable to work? If so, for how long? And
would your
valuable data be safe if your hard disk were suddenly wiped clean?
Computer
crashes can happen at any time, for any number of reasons. On
January 21,
Dan Castellano will talk about some of the ways you can protect
your data,
and save precious time if that dreaded day ever comes.
In the
second half, Dan will talk about the Law concerning Protection of
Private
Information (implemented in 2003), and its implications for
translators. In
both segments, the floor will be open for comments and
suggestions from the audience. We look forward to your input.
Dan Castellano, a Canadian, has been a full-time
translator for about 12
years, during which he has worked as an in-house
translator at a Japanese
trading company and at two translation companies in
Tokyo. In 2003, he
established "Blue-J," a translation and transcription
business that he
operates out of his home.
