Outline & Speaker Introduction

Presentation Outline:

Translation and interpretation of business-related material from E-J or J-E presents some special challenges.  First there are all the usual challenges of translation, such as accuracy, tone, and readability/understandability.
Then add the differences in business practice between Japan and English speaking countries, which are reflected in the specific terms used, and for which there are not always simple or direct equivalents.  In this presentation Rochelle Kopp will summarize some of the key categories "tricky" terms that she has encountered in her work as a cross-cultural business consultant.  Participants will be encouraged to add their own favorite tricky terms to be discussed by the group.
