Description:
Dr. Malik will begin his talk with a review of the critical global challenges in terms of international security and development that confront our world today. This will be followed by a quick overview of the global developments since the establishment of the UN some sixty years ago. Lastly, he will explain what needs to be reformed in order to make the organization more effective in dealing with the realities and challenges of today's world and the processes that are ongoing to reform the organization.

Since his youth, Dr. Malik has been interested in and researched international political issues. He has worked for the WHO, UNDP, and FUNDWI. From 1976, he furthered his contribution to the UN’s policies at the United Nations University by working in different capacities for twenty years. After 1996, he was a visiting professor and scholar at American universities promoting awareness, always researching the challenges that face our international community, and teaching courses. In 1998, Dr. Malik returned to Japan. In addition to giving lectures for the “Ship for World Youth” organized by the Management and Coordination Agency of the Prime Minister’s Office, he also taught “Inter-cultural Communication” at Chiba University.
Dr. Malik continues to be involved in developing programs to raise the level of international understanding. He has made it his mission to promote the importance of international exchange and understanding among youth through teaching and in the community at large through lectures and discussions, as well as through membership of various social and cultural organizations.
