This presentation will offer a look at the J-to-E equity research translation market. Although the analysis will be from an in-house translator’s perspective, freelance translation will also be a major topic of discussion. In addition to an overview of the industry and the demands on translators in this fairly lucrative corner of the translation universe, this session should provide tips on acquiring relevant skills and getting into the field.
Keith Shinabargar translates equity research in-house for Nomura Securities, Japan’s largest securities house, where he has been for more than two years. He has a total of seven years translation experience, four of which in financial translation, all in-house. His educational background is in physics (BA) and Japanese literature (MA) and he studied Japanese intensely at the Inter-University Center for Japanese Language Studies in Yokohama before becoming a translator.

1988年から翻訳エージェントに勤務。英国留学を経て、1995年から外資系証券会社ならびに投資顧問会社に勤務。2002年にフリーランス翻訳者に転向。現在、金融関係の英日翻訳を請け負っている。
講演内容：
１）金融翻訳者になるまでの経緯、２）金融翻訳を行う上で実践していること、主としてこの2つをテーマにお話しします。株式調査レポートだけでなく、金融関係の文書全般を話の対象としたいと思います。
