The Future of the Translation Market
China
waxing, Japan waning, and a host of other epoch making changes in the business world make the headlines on a regular basis. How is today's business climate affecting J <> E translation service providers? Paul Flint will share with JAT the results of his survey of agencies and freelancers the world over and his conclusions about the future of the
translation market.
Paul Flint is principle of a small translation company, Honyaku Plus, and currently serves on the JAT board of directors. He has been in Japan since 1992 and translating since 1998, a JAT member since 1999, and on the board of directors since 2002.

題名：わが翻訳稼業30年
私が技術翻訳なる仕事に始めて係わりを持ったのは1970年代前半です。この頃首都圏および近畿圏に翻訳業が誕生したといわれていますが、その背景そして70年代黎明期から80年ー90年代に至る翻訳環境の様変わりを、私なりの体験をベースにお話します。その際の留意点は：ハードとソフトの変遷、クライアントの獲得、翻訳技能の向上ー私が受講生として通い、また講師を勤めた翻訳学校の実態など。

経験30年のベテラン翻訳者。特許翻訳を得意とする。会社経営や翻訳教育にも携わった経験ももつ。
