Biotech Translation for Dummies
The talk will be entitled "Biotech Translation for Dummies" and will concentrate on an overview of the biotech sector in Japan and what opportunities and challenges it holds for translators. We will begin by covering some of the major technical concepts behind the biotech industry today, including genomics, proteomics, and bioinformatics. We will then go on to take a brief look at the state of the biotech industry in Japan, concentrating mainly on the small to mid-size venture corporations that have been springing up like dandelions after a spring rain. Finally, we will take a look at some real-world examples of translation problems and try to find the best approaches for them.
