Video Script Translation and Narration

Mr. Fincke will talk on the special challenges presented by translating scripts for videos, tips for subtitling, and what problems to anticipate when doing voiceovers.


Biographical Information

Peter M. Fincke, President
GaiPro Inc.

A longtime resident of Japan, Mr. Fincke worked for 10 years as a newscaster for English cable TV and seven years at the Asahi Broadcasting Company (ABC), where he helped to initiate bilingual broadcasting.  He also hosted a daily program on Radio Kansai and was a weekly personality on Radio Osaka with one of Japan's leading rakugo performers.  His voice can be heard on KISS FM in Kobe, as well as on TV and radio commercials.

Outside the broadcasting world, Mr. Fincke served as an advisor on tourism to the Osaka City government and on the panel that recommended Rinku Town's mix of infrastructural facilities near Kansai International Airport.

GaiPro Inc.
GaiPro Inc. specializes in foreign language recording and script translation, both commercial and technical. Major clients include a number of universities, municipal and prefectural governments, as well as numerous video, advertising and manufacturing companies.  The company primarily works in English, Chinese, and the major European languages.

Directions:
From Midosuji Umeda, Hankyu Umeda, Hanshin Umeda:
Follow Whity Umeda Shopping Mall's East Mall to the round plaza at the end where the fountain is (Izumi no Hiroba). Take the right fork of exit M10 to street level. Follow Ogimachi-dori straight ahead to the east. At the fifth set of lights, you'll see Ogimachi Museum Square on the left corner ahead.
Turn left (north). You'll see the YWCA two blocks ahead, on a triangle-shaped block. Yamanishi Fukushi Kinen Kaikan is in the same building. Check the signboard by the door for the room.
